I've never curled outdoors, what should I expect?
The outdoor spiel is different than typical indoor curling! Here are a few ways to prepare yourself:
- Keep an eye on the weather and dress appropriately. Typically dress as if you were going skiing or snowboarding (goggles and helmet not required!)
- Wear warm shoes or snow boots. Do NOT wear your curling shoes, as the ice will ruin them!
- The club will have brooms available for skipping and sweeping.
- You can curl however you'd like... but two feet in the hack with a belly slide works well!
- This is not BYOB. Drinks and entertainment are available for purchase at The Pier, as they are the hosts for the event. Let's support our local businesses!
- Construction or volleyball kneepads can also be a lifesaver on the ice!
