Training Tips from Jon Mielke
Jon Mielke was a USCA Level III instructor and Level III coach and former chairman of the USCA Instruction and Training Committee. Mielke began curling while in college and calls the Capital Curling Club in Bismarck, N.D., his home club. Mielke's popular Curling News column "Training Tips From Jon" debuted in 2011.
Unfortunately Jon, the guiding light of the Capital Curling Club over its first 40 years, passed away on February 28, 2023– one week short of his 71st birthday. An inductee of the USA Curling Hall of Fame and the first Lifetime Member of the Capital Curling Club, Jon was an institution unto himself. Words can’t possibly begin to express the impact Jon had on the curling community here at home and throughout the nation.
