CAPITAL CURLING
CLUB ANNUAL MEETING

MARCH 24, 2006
The annual
meeting of the Capital Curling Club was called to order by President Tom
Pomonis, during the annual banquet and silent auction. Approximately 45 members
present.
Board Nominations: Board
members present at the annual meeting were Roger Peet, Cathy Janikowski, Lynn
Neutz, Larry Brekke, Greg Hiemenz, Tom Pomonis, Jeff Bakken, Dan Buresh, Roxy
Howes, John Kram, Brandon Leingang, and Rita Peet.
Four board member’s terms are up, on the current board of directors;
Roxy Howes, Rita Peet, John Kram and Tom Pomonis.
The floor was opened of nomination, no new nominations were made.
The Board candidates for election were John Kram, Dwayne Schmidt, Scott
Neumann, Ken Sanbor, and Michelle Haley.
Ballot election was completed by all present club members; John Kram was
reelected along with Scott Neumann, Michelle Haley and Dwayne Schmidt.
Treasure’s Report:
Lynn Neutz handed out the treasures report, current to
March 24, 2006
. There are still three curlers that
have not paid their dues.
Prairie Rose Games:
Dan Buresh spoke to the group about curling being part of the Prairie
Rose games for the first time. It is
possible to participate by registering through the
Bismarck
Park
and Rec’s Department. The fee is
$15.00 per curler/event. There will
be two events an open event and a 16 and under event.
Buresh is looking for volunteers to help with the event.
The Prairie Rose Games will be held July 14, 15, and 16, 2006.
Summerspiel:
Dan Buresh announced the Summerspiel will be July 20, 21, 22, and 23,
2006. There is room for two or three
more teams at this time.
Early Bird Spiel:
Dan Buresh mentioned it will be the last weekend in October and it is
growing every year.
Surveys:
John Kram announced that there will be survey’s sent out to each curler
this summer about what they would like to see happen with the club. Everyone is
encouraged to fill out the questionnaires and return them.

Appreciation award:
Roxy Howes presented Tom Pomonis with a plaque from the club, thanking
him for his leadership and dedication throughout the last year.
Fees payment:
Fees payment was brought up, no discussion held.
People, Park and Places:
Jon Mielke informed the people present about the People, Parks and Places
concepts. It has to do with capital
improvements projects for the park board. The
new projects are to be funded by a ½ cent tax increase for six years and then a
continuing ¼ cent for ongoing funding. This
will be on the ballot on June 4. All
people present were encouraged to educate themselves on this measure before you
vote.
TV Raffle:
John Kram spoke about the TV raffle and encouraged everyone to go out and
sell there tickets before the Summerspiel.
Summer ice:
On July 7, the ice committee will be putting in the ice and many
volunteers will be needed to get the ice ready throughout that week.
It was also mentioned that there will be ice available from July 17 to
July 20th, for open houses or any other curling events.
Junior Curling:
Jon Mielke thanked Roger Peet and Dave Jensen for their work with the
junior curling program. Also thanked
all the club members that help them with their programs, to make them a success.
Dave Jensen mentioned that continuing with the junior curling program is
important because we certainly have the curlers with the potential to be at the
Olympics.
Silent Auction:
It was announced that the silent auction will go on for 15 minutes after
the meeting is adjourned.
Greg Hiemenz made a motion to adjourn the meeting and John Kram seconded
it. Meeting was adjourned.
