CAPTIAL CURLING
CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
November 16, 2005
Members Present: Tom Pomonis, Roxy Howes, Dan Buresh, Jeff Bakken, Roger
Peet, Cathy Janikowski, Larry Brekke, Greg Hiemenz, Lynn, Neutz, John Kram.
Minutes from the October meeting were approved.
Committee Reports:
House and Ice: General discussion was
held. The concensus seems to be that playing conditions are consistent, with
fast ice.
League: General discussion was held around the formation of this year’s
leagues. It appears that everyone who wanted to curl had at least one
opportunity to do so. Several teams are still looking for regular players.
Finance: As of the meeting approximately ¾ of the club members have paid
their league fees. Part of the issue of getting a solid count is that we do not
have rosters for all teams. It appears that more teams than normal have not
obtained a sponsor, or have not paid the sponsor fee. It is unclear if this fee
was communicated to new teams with sufficient clarity. We had initial discussion
about how far to go in collecting sponsorship fees. This, along with unpaid dues
will be action items for the December board meeting.
Other Business:
- The
club has purchased a $1 million dollar liability insurance policy for board
members.
- A
motion was made, and passed to purchase a digital camera for club use, not
to exceed $150.
- General
discussion was held about the possibility, and necessity of having an
accountant help with the club financial statements/books. This may be wise
from a checks and balances standpoint, and is not an indicator of the
performance of current or past treasurer’s.
- The
pizza fundraiser is going well. It is likely that the club will make
somewhere between $500 to $1000 from this effort.
- The
Parks and Recreation District has re-keyed all of the locks in the building.
They are also in the process of putting in a combination lock on the club
room door. The board passed a motion to limit the number of keys available
to less than 12. These keys will be made available to those members who can
demonstrate a need to be able to open the outside door. Access to the club
will still be available to those who need it, when they need it. However
there will be considerably less members with keys.
