CAPITAL CURLING CLUB
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
June 22, 2005
Members present: Mike Borr, Tom Pomonis, Larry Brekke, Brandon Leingang, Roger M. Peet, Lynn Neutz, Jeff Bakken and Rita Peet.
Minutes from last meeting: Minutes from the May 18, 2005 board meeting were distributed. There was a motion by Roger Peet and seconded by Brandon Leingang to approve the minutes. The motion passed unanimously,
Financial report: As of June 22, 2005, the net income is (-$1,712.65). Mike Borr reported that we are still waiting for some pin sales. The balance in the clubs checking and savings account is $32,356.75.
House and ice: The tanks are here for the summer spiel. Jon Mielke will be in charge of ice making for the summer spiel. Todd Ussatis was contacted about being in charge of the ice during the curling season, no commitment was received.
League: The committee will start working on contacting league captains and finalizing the 2005-06 season. Discussion was also held on ways to improve fee payments by involving the league captions. More research will be done on this by Tom and Roger.
Special events: We were approved to sell brats at the Capital Affair (Aug 7-8); Rita will purchase our food vending permit in July for $12.50, for the event.
T-shirts will be available for purchase during the Summmer spiel, probably Thursday afternoon and early evening and again some time on Friday and Saturday.
Additional Business:
Summer spiel: As of today 59 teams with 3 teams on the waiting list, Mike verbalized we will shoot for a 56 team draw. Pig roast at pioneer Park along with a riverboat ride are scheduled for Friday, July 15, 2005.
Level 1 instructor course: Tom discussed the course and emails have been sent out to club members who may be interested in attending.
Fee increase: Tom lead a discussion a fee increase, no decisions were made.
Fund Raiser: Lynn Neutz is continuing to look into fund raising ideas (pizza sales).
NDCA Dues: The state due will decrease from $1,300.00 to $750.00.
Junior Curling Camp: Dave Jenson is unsure if he will continue to run the junior curling camp in October, due to some controversy with the USCA. (Gillian Gervais was contacted by the USCA and informed that she will not be eligible for USCA play down).
State Men’ and Women’s play downs: The club championships will be held in Bismarck during the 2005-06 season; we will need to find a chairman for this event. Roger M. Peet will think about taking the position.
Organizational meeting: Discussion was held on having an organizational meeting for all league captains in October, with focus a paying membership dues and league captions responsibilities.
Next Meeting: Leagues and membership fee payment policy will be the focus of the next meeting.
Next meeting is scheduled for July 27, 2005
