CAPITAL CURLING CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

January 5, 2005

Members Present:  Mike Borr, Greg Hiemenz, Larry Brekke, Roxanne Howes, Roger Peet, Rita Becker, Mike Ell, Dave Clemmons

Minutes of last meeting: Greg Hiemenz distributed minutes of the December 1, 2004 board meeting.

Financial Report: As of January 5, 2005,  net income is $8,050 for this fiscal year.

House and Ice: The cameras and modulator for the video system have been installed, and all four sheets can be viewed in the downstairs clubroom.  Four monitors will be installed in the upstairs clubroom this month.

Carpets will be cleaned by arena staff  prior to the Junior Nationals.

The clubspiel and greenspiel will probably be run concurrently on February 25-26.

A clinic for beginners and intermediate curlers will be held January 8.  Information will be posted in the clubroom.

Junior Nationals Update: Preparations are going well.  Risers will be installed in the upstairs clubroom.  Bleachers will be placed on the ice (sheet A and D) for the finals.

Gervais Rink to Nationals: Congratulations to Gillian, Sarah, Steph, Steph, and Amy for earning a berth in the junior nationals!  There was a motion by Roxy Howes, seconded by Mike Borr, to give $300 to the team.  The motion passed unanimously.

Liability Disclaimer: The board discussed whether there was a need to have all curlers sign a liability waiver.  It was decided that more information was needed before any decision could be made.

State Seniors: The state seniors will be held March 4-6 at the club.  We are still looking for a host chair.  Jon Mielke will handle the upfront arrangements.

Other Business: Club member Larry Brekke’s design was selected for the USA Olympic curling pin.  Congratulations Larry! We have not yet received the 2005 USCA pins.

Roger Smith provided a motion to give Roger Peet a jacket in appreciation for his great work with the Little Rocks junior program.  Some board members were concerned about setting a precedent.  No vote was taken because a quorum of board members was not present when this item was discussed.

Next Meeting: January 26, 2005.
