BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
September 15, 2004
Members Present: Mike Borr, Greg Hiemenz, Larry Brekke, Roxanne Howes, Roger Peet, Rita Becker, Mike Ell
Minutes of last meeting: The net from the summerspiel was incorrectly reported as $3,599 in the draft minutes of the August 25,2004 meeting. The correct total was $3,228. There was a motion by Mike Borr, seconded by Roger Peet, to approve the corrected minutes. The motion carried unanimously.
League Committee Report: There may be room for one team in the Monday late, Tuesday early, and Tuesday late leagues. All other leagues are full with nine teams. The possibility of starting a Friday league will be mentioned in the newsletter. If enough interest develops, a league will be organized.
Advertising/Newsletter: Roger Peet has all of the copy into Carla at Kadrmas Lee & Jackson. Any additions or corrections need to be in by September 22. The newsletter will be distributed around October 1.
Financial Report: Some income has come in for the junior clinic. As of September 14, net income is $3,873 for this fiscal year.
De-ionized water vendor: Mike Borr recommended that we continue with Jet Ice for another year. The board agreed.
Video System: Mike Ell reported that Office Systems provided an estimate of $2,400 for a closed circuit video system. Whitetail Securities will provide a second bid. Don’s Electric will provide a bid for running conduit and supplying power to monitors.
Note: On September 28, 2004 Mike Ell made a motion to accept Office Systems, Inc. bid of $2,380 for the video system, Don’s Electric estimate of $1,640 for installation, and TV and mounting hardware for five monitors (estimated cost of 1000). This includes one additional monitor to be located in the basement clubhouse area. Roxy Howes seconded the motion. The board voted via email. The motion passed unanimously.
Ice: The Plant will be turned on October 7 or 8 . Ice and circles will be painted October 11-12, lines and decals added October 13-14, and final prep October 16-17. There will be instructional clinics October 18-21 and October 25. The Junior camp and bonspiel will held October 22-24. Open ice will be available for practice October 26-27. Leagues begin October 28 - November 3.
Junior Nationals Update: Preparations are going well. Image Printing has received the artwork for on-ice advertising.
Fall Membership Picnic: The picnic is scheduled for Saturday October 16. Details will be printed in the newsletter.
Other Business: The Early Bird bonspiel will be held October 29-31. Interested curlers should contact Larry Brekke or Roxy Howes to register.
Some club members would like to have the option of paying dues online. The board decided not to pursue the option at this time.
Jon Mielke win coordinate the instructional clinics. Roger Peet will take care of the public service announcements in the local media.
Lots of volunteers will be needed this year for the junior nationals. A volunteer form will be included with league registration.
Century High wants to return for physical education classes. Bismarck high has not contacted us yet. Roxy will talk with the schools before the board makes a decision.
Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Ell, and seconded by Mike Borr. The motion passed unanimously, and the meeting was adjourned.
