CAPITAL CURLING CLUB
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
October 6, 2004
Members Present: Mike Borr, Greg Hiemenz, Larry Brekke, Roxanne Howes, Roger Peet, Rita Becker, Dave Clemmons, Tom Pomonis, Kathy Janikowski
Minutes of last meeting: There was a motion by Roger Peet, seconded by Tom Pomonis, to approve the minutes of the September 15, 2004 board meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
Financial Report: As of October 6, net income is $5,838 for this fiscal year.
House and Ice: Ice will be going in during the week of October 10.
Video System: Don’s Electric has finished wiring. Cameras and monitors should be installed in November.
Junior Nationals Update: Tom Pomonis reported that preparations are going well. Tom will start having bi-weekly meetings with committee chairs.
Tom said that the price quote from Odney Advertizing for club marketing was too high for what we needed. The Bismarck Tribune and Richtman’s Printing have been helping with marketing and other items we had planned to contract with Odney Advertizing.
Fall Membership Picnic: The picnic is scheduled for Saturday October 16. Note: The picnic was canceled due to lack of interest.
League Committee Report: Due to a misunderstanding, the Monday late league may have ten teams signed up. The league captain will ask if any team is willing to move to Tuesday late, which still has one opening. All other leagues are full with nine teams.
Early Bird Bonspiel: The bonspiel will be held October 29-31. Contact Larry Brekke or Roxy Howes if interested.
Other Business: Century High School wants to return for physical education classes. There would be 25 students per section and five sections per day for one week with one instructor per section. They requested the week of November 15-19. There have been problems in the past due to dirty shoes, ice damage, and insufficient supervision. On the other hand, the classes are a great way to introduce new people to the sport. The board decided to ask for a certificate of insurance and require two adults to supervise each section. Club members will be asked to volunteer.
The North Dakota Curling Association meeting will be held October 16. Roger Smith will attend.
Meeting adjourned.
Next Meeting: November 3, 2004.
