CAPITAL CURLING CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

November 3, 2004

Members Present:  Mike Borr, Greg Hiemenz, Larry Brekke, Roxanne Howes, Roger Peet, Rita Becker,  Tom Pomonis, Cathy Janikowski

Minutes of last meeting:  There was a motion by Mike Borr, seconded by Roger Peet, to approve the minutes of the October 6, 2004 board meeting.  The motion carried unanimously.

Financial Report: As of November 3, net income is $6,056 for this fiscal year.

House and Ice: Carpets need to be cleaned prior to the Junior Nationals.  Greg Hiemenz will find out whether this is a club or an arena expense.

Some new chairs for the upstairs clubroom were purchased by the arena with a cost-share from the club.  Greg Hiemenz will find out how many were purchased and what the total cost was.

All lockers are full, and some people who wanted a locker this year have not been able to get one.  At present, we are giving preference to individuals who had lockers last year.  We will check the status again in a few weeks when most people have paid their dues.  Some options for next year include giving lockers to teams instead of individuals, giving preference to individuals curling more than one league, requesting that people share lockers, or holding a lottery.

Video System:  Cameras have been installed.  The modulator has been ordered.  Mike Ell is checking on prices for monitors.

Junior Nationals Update: Tom Pomonis reported that preparations are going well.  Tom will start having bi-weekly meetings with committee chairs.  Shannon Bakke will organize the Saturday night banquet and dance.

Tom asked the board what admission costs should be for the event.  Last year at Centerville, the cost was $2 per draw and $5 per day.  After some discussion, the board agreed on $3 per draw, $8 per day, $5 for the championship draw, and $35 for the entire event.

League Committee Report: League play begins this week. All leagues are full with nine teams. League captains need to coordinate team pictures.

Other Business: Century High School could not provide two instructors per section as requested by the club, so there will be no physical education classes this year.

The North Dakota Curling Association meeting will be held October 16.  Roger Smith will attend.

There was a motion to adjourn by Roger Peet, seconded by Tom Pomonis. The Motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.

Next Meeting: December 1, 2004.
