BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
January
7, 2004
Members
Present: Roger Smith, Rita Becker, Mike Borr, Wally Owen, Mary Gervais,
Mike Ell, Roger M. Peet, Dave Clemmons, Scott McLeod, Tim Brosz
Rita
Becker made a motion to accept the minutes from the December Board meeting.
Seconded by Roger Smith. Motion
passed unanimously.
Old
Business: The laser timing device was not purchased, as they
could not deliver it in a timely manner. We
will look into getting one when the product is finished next season.
Financial
Report: Wally gave a financial report.
He checked on investment possibilities.
We are looking at putting about $10,000 into annuities.
Nothing has been decided yet.
League/Membership
Committee Report:
Roger Smith will be starting a 3 week learn to curl class.
It will be held the last two Fridays in January and the second Friday in
February. The time is 7pm.
Newsletter/Publicity
Committee Report: Roger M. Peet is working
on an advertising committee. Due to
the holidays, not much has been done yet.
Ice/Building
Committee Report:
no report
Special
Events Report: The club spiel will be held February 7-8, 2004.
The Green Spiel will be held on February 22, 2004.
Rapid City is invited to attend. The
State High School Tournament will be held March 12-14, 2004.
Jon Mielke will be making some flyers and distributing them.
The
annual meeting is scheduled for March 20, 2004 at the Amvets.
Mike Ell will check on the cost of the meals.
Other
Business: A motion was made by Roger Smith and seconded by Mike Ell to
donate $100 to Sara Gervais and $100 to Eric Jensen, to help defray the cost of
going to Nationals. The motion
passed unanimously.
Roger
Smith made a motion to spend $200 on promotional material from the USCA.
This was seconded by Rita Becker and passed unanimously.
Some of the material are mini discs with some learn to curl information. The other material is a tape on curling, customized with CCC
information. It can be played on
local cable access channels to promote the sport of curling.
