CAPITAL CURLING CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

February 5, 2004

Members Present:  Mike Borr, Wally Owen, Roger M. Peet, Mary Gervais, Tom Pomonis, Roxanne Howe, Mike Ell

Tom Pomonis made a motion to approve the minutes of the January meeting.  Seconded by Mary Gervais.  Motion passed unanimously. 

Old Business:  No old business to discuss

Financial Report:  Wally Owen presented a brief financial report. 

League/Membership Committee Report:  No report

Newsletter/Publicity Committee Report:  Roger M. Peet gave an update on the advertising committee.  He has Jack Potter and Guy McDonald on the committee.  He is working with Tom Pomonis to coordinate next year’s sponsors and advertisers, with advertising for the Junior Nationals next year. 

Ice/Building Committee Report:  Mike Borr and Roger M. Peet will check into the costs of purchasing 4 monitors and cameras, as a capital improvement for the club.     

Special Events Report:  Tom Pomonis gave an update on Junior Nationals.  He is working with the CVB on a request for hotels to present bids as the host hotel.  Steve Stelton and Dick Nordgren will be in charge of the ice maintenance.  Image Printing is designing a logo for the Junior Nationals.  Dave Anderson will be working with the officiating.  Tom will check with the Bismarck Tribune before the March meeting to get an agreement on printing and distributing the programs for the Junior Nationals.  

Mike Ell gave an update on the Annual Meeting Banquet (March 20, 2004), at the Amvets.  The Board decided on going with the 2 meat entrée again and will sell tickets for $9.00 per plate.  Mike will make up banquet tickets and distribute them to all skips to help in selling them.  He will also make the sign up board for the silent auction and contact the Park Board for the golf membership for the silent auction. 

Mike Borr indicated there are 9 teams signed up for the club spiel this weekend.  He indicated that he would welcome any help people are willing to give.  Todd Ustatis is in charge of the Green Spiel.  A letter was sent to the Rushmore Curling Club to see if they will be sending up any teams. 

Other Business:  Some names were suggested as possible prospective board members.  Mike Borr said he would contact these people.
