KidzCurl Ready to Rock! All the necessary curling equipment is provided at the club. In order to preserve the quality of our special playing surface, we ask that kids and adults who will be on the ice bring a clean pair of rubber soled shoes. Clean means the sole of the shoe is free of dirt and rocks and pebbles from outside. KidzCurl Season Our KidzCurl program will run most Saturdays from December 2 through February 24. Right now we know we won’t meet on Dec. 23 and 30 and January 20.
Cancellation Policy If we need to cancel due to inclement weather, we will run an announcement by 8:00 am on KFYR radio, AM 550, and KCND radio FM 90.5. If the weather looks questionable please listen to these stations. Fees If your young curler likes the KidzCurl program and plans to participate for the entire season, we ask for a $20.00 donation to Capital Curling Club. If after a couple weeks they decide it’s not for them, a donation will not be necessary. Donations help defray the cost of snacks and equipment each week and will be used for other Junior Curling activities. Junior Merit Program
To encourage young people to work hard to develop their curling skills, we
participate in the Junior Merit Program. This United States Curling Association
(USCA) program of written and on-ice skills tests provides a progressively
arranged format for young curlers to be recognized for their hard work and
dedication to the sport. A series of special patches is awarded for achieving
each level of the program, and the Capital Curling Club will offer a half-price
Junior Curling Jacket to those young curlers who have achieved the 2nd
level (Blue). See the Junior Merit Program link at left.
Volunteers Needed Volunteers are needed every Saturday morning to make this program run. In addition to on-ice coaches, we need help every week with preparing snacks and hot cocoa. If you bring your child to curl on Saturdays and want to help while you are there, please let us know you are available. You may sign up as a volunteer at the club or by contacting Scott Neumann at spneumann@bis.midco.net or 255-3557. |
