  USA CURLING
JUNIOR MERIT PROGRAM

The Junior Merit program is designed for all age junior curlers, from the earliest beginner to the competitive junior curler.  There is no cost for this program and you can earn the right to purchase a new Jr. Curling jacket for only $35.00.  See below for more information.

When a junior curler begins the Junior Merit Program he/she will receive a USCA and Junior Merit patch.

There are five levels in the Junior Merit Program:

LEVEL 1 – RED LEVEL
LEVEL 2 – BLUE LEVE
L

LEVEL 3 -  BRONZE LEVEL

LEVEL 4 -  SILVER LEVEL

LEVEL5 -   GOLD LEVEL

Each level is represented by a colored bar to be sewn on to a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket.  To obtain the colored bars the junior curler must pass the written examination with a score of at least 80% and must pass ALL of the on ice skill assessments.  Junior Curling jackets are available for $35.00 (that's 50% off the regular price), if you pass your blue level written and skills tests. Here's what they look like:

The Capital Curling Club has a supply of USCA pamphlets that will be helpful for the junior curlers to prepare for the written examinations.  They are located in the club room.

The written exams and the on ice skills tests are posted on this site under Junior Merit Tests.  This will help the junior curler to study the written questions in advance and practice the necessary skills to pass the on ice skills tests.

Please do not ask to test until you have studied the tests and have practiced the skills you will need to pass.

If you have any questions on the Junior Merit Program, you may contact Scott Neumann at 255.3557 or  spneumann@bis.midco.net.
